# How to access your hosting's cPanel

The three ways into RedHosting's cPanel — through the client area, the direct address and your domain — and what to do when the password doesn't work.

cPanel is the panel where everything about your hosting happens: uploading your site's files, creating email accounts, setting up databases, installing the SSL certificate. There are three ways to get in, and the first one doesn't require knowing any password.

## 1. Through the client area (the simplest way)

This is the recommended way, because the login is automatic — you don't need to remember the cPanel password.

- Go to [financeiro.redhosting.com.br](https://financeiro.redhosting.com.br) and sign in with your RedHosting account email and password.
- In the top menu, click **Services** → **My Services**.
- Find your hosting in the list and click it.
- On the service page, click **Log in to cPanel**.

cPanel opens already signed in, in a new tab.

## 2. Through the server's direct address

The hosting welcome email includes the server address, the username and the cPanel password. With them, direct access is:

```
https://YOUR_SERVER:2083
```

Port **2083** is cPanel over a secure connection. There's also 2082, without encryption — don't use it.

## 3. Through your domain

If the domain already points to the hosting, these two addresses work:

```
https://yourdomain.com/cpanel
https://cpanel.yourdomain.com
```

Until the DNS change finishes propagating, these addresses don't respond — use one of the two previous ways. Pointing your domain is explained in [How to point your domain to RedHosting](/en/base-de-conhecimento/como-apontar-seu-dominio-para-a-redhosting).

  💡**Tip**: Bookmark the client area route. It's the only one that keeps working even if the domain has a DNS problem or the cPanel password is lost.

## 4. When the password doesn't work

These are different accounts, and that's where the confusion usually starts:

- The **client area** password is the one you created when ordering. It's for viewing invoices, opening tickets and managing services.
- The **cPanel** password was generated on activation and sent in the welcome email. It's only for the hosting panel.

If the cPanel password was lost, you can reset it on the service page in the client area, under **Change Password**. If you still can't get in, support will reset it for you.

## 5. What to do on first access

New hosting needs a few things, in this order:

  New hosting checklist

    ✓**Point the domain** to the hosting, if it was registered elsewhere — [how to point your domain](/en/base-de-conhecimento/como-apontar-seu-dominio-para-a-redhosting).

    ✓**Upload the site's files** — [with the File Manager](/en/base-de-conhecimento/como-enviar-seu-site-pelo-gerenciador-de-arquivos-do-cpanel).

    ✓**Create the database**, if the site uses one — [MySQL database in cPanel](/en/base-de-conhecimento/como-criar-um-banco-de-dados-mysql-no-cpanel).

    ✓**Enable SSL**, free on every plan — [how to enable SSL](/en/base-de-conhecimento/como-ativar-o-ssl-gratuito-no-cpanel).

    ✓**Create the domain's email accounts** — [email in cPanel](/en/base-de-conhecimento/como-criar-um-email-no-cpanel-e-configurar-no-celular).

## Frequently asked questions

**What's the address to log in to cPanel?**

The simplest way is through the client area, under Services → My Services → Log in to cPanel, which signs you in without a password. `https://YOUR_SERVER:2083` and `https://yourdomain.com/cpanel` also work.

**Does the client area password work for cPanel?**

No, they're different accounts. The client area one is what you created when ordering; the cPanel one was generated on activation and sent in the welcome email.

**I lost my cPanel password. How do I recover it?**

Reset it on the service page in the client area, under Change Password. If you still can't get in, support will reset it for you.

**What's the difference between ports 2082 and 2083?**

2083 uses an encrypted connection and 2082 doesn't. Always use 2083.
