## 1. What panel backups are

The RedHosting panel lets you create **full backups** of your Minecraft server — including the world, plugins, mods and settings — without shutting the server down.

## 2. Opening the Backups tab

In your **panel**, select your server and click **Backups** in the left sidebar.

## 3. Creating a manual backup

- Click the **Create backup** button.
- Give the backup a name to identify it (e.g. `before-updating-plugins`).
- Optionally, mark folders/files to ignore (e.g. `cache`, `logs`) to keep the backup lighter.
- Click **Create** and wait for it to finish. The time depends on the size of the world.

  ℹ️
You can keep using the server normally while the backup is being created, but avoid restarting it during the process.

## 4. Setting up automatic backups

So you don't have to remember to back up manually, use the **Schedules** tab:

- Go to **Schedules** in the sidebar and click **Create schedule**.
- Set the frequency (e.g. every day at 04:00).
- Inside the new schedule, click **Create task** and choose the **Create backup** action.
- Save the task and enable the schedule.

  ℹ️
**Tip**: Pick a time with few players online for automatic backups to avoid any performance impact.

## 5. Downloading a backup

- In the **Backups** tab, find the backup you want in the list.
- Click the menu (three-dot icon) next to the backup and select **Download**.
- The `.tar.gz` file will be downloaded to your computer — keep it somewhere safe.

## 6. Restoring a backup

- In the backup list, click the menu of the backup you want to restore.
- Select **Restore**.
- Choose whether to delete the current files before restoring (recommended, to avoid mixing old and new files).
- Confirm and wait for it to finish.

  ⚠️
**Warning**: Restoring a backup replaces the server's current files. If possible, create a new backup of the current state before restoring an old one.

## 7. Uploading your own backup or world

If you already have a world or backup made outside the panel, you can upload it too:

- Go to your server's **Files** tab.
- Click **Upload** and select the compressed file (`.zip` or `.tar.gz`) from your computer.
- After the upload, right-click the file and choose **Extract**.
- Replace the `world` folder (and `world_nether`/`world_the_end`, if present) with the extracted files.
- Restart the server to load the new world.

## 8. Best practices

- Keep at least one daily automatic backup and a manual one before big changes (version updates, new plugins/mods).
- Periodically download a copy of your most important backups to your computer.
- Test a restore from time to time to make sure your backups are intact.
