How to create an email account in cPanel and set it up on your phone

September 2, 2026
cPanel

An address on your own domain — contact@yourcompany.com instead of a random Gmail — is already included with your hosting. This guide covers everything from creating the account to having it working on your phone.

1. Creating the account

  • Log in to cPanel. If you need to, the steps are in How to access cPanel.
  • In the Email section, click Email Accounts.
  • Click Create.
  • Fill in the name before the @ — for example contact — and pick the domain from the list next to it.
  • Set a password. The Generate button creates a strong one automatically; copy and save it before leaving the screen.
  • Under Storage, set a limit in MB or choose Unlimited. The total is shared with your site's files, within your plan's space.
  • Click Create.

How many accounts you can create depends on the plan: 1 on Bronze, 15 on Silver (Prata), 45 on Gold (Ouro) and unlimited on Business.

2. Using webmail

Without installing anything, in your browser:

https://webmail.yourdomain.com

Log in with the full email address as the username and the password you set. You can also get there from cPanel: under Email Accounts, click Check Email next to the account.

3. Setting it up on your phone and email apps

cPanel shows the settings ready to use: under Email Accounts, click Connect Devices next to the account. The values follow this format:

Incoming (IMAP)Outgoing (SMTP)
Servermail.yourdomain.commail.yourdomain.com
Port993465
SecuritySSL/TLSSSL/TLS
Usernamethe full email address
Passwordthe email account's password
💡Tip: Prefer IMAP over POP3. IMAP keeps messages on the server and in sync across phone, computer and webmail; POP3 downloads and deletes them, so a message read on your phone disappears from your computer.

In the apps, the path is always the same:

  • iPhone — Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account.
  • Android (Gmail) — Gmail → profile picture → Add another account → Other.
  • Outlook — File → Add Account → Advanced options → Let me set up my account manually → IMAP.

If the app tries to detect the settings on its own and fails, look for the manual setup option and fill in the data from the table above.

Server not found

The domain hasn't finished pointing to the hosting yet. Meanwhile, use the server address — the one from the welcome email — instead of mail.yourdomain.com.

Certificate error

This happens when mail.yourdomain.com doesn't have SSL issued yet. Enable SSL for the domain and wait for it to be issued; the steps are in How to enable free SSL in cPanel.

Receives but doesn't send

Many internet providers block port 25. Use port 465 with SSL, and make sure SMTP authentication is checked — without it, the server refuses to send.

Messages land in the recipient's spam folder

A new domain takes a while to build reputation. What speeds it up:

  • Making sure the SPF and DKIM records are published — cPanel shows both under Email → Email Deliverability and enables them with one click.
  • Avoiding bulk sending in the first few weeks.
  • Using a recognizable subject and sender instead of no-reply.

5. Forwarding to Gmail

If you'd rather read everything in one place, cPanel can forward messages: under Email → Forwarders, add a forwarder from the domain account to your Gmail. To reply as the domain address, set up the SMTP above in Gmail under Settings → Accounts → Send mail as.
